Amber stumbled along the plains, acutely aware of how much she stood out against the vast expanse of green. Clad only in a light white dress, and some hardy brown knee-high boots, she felt glad the weather at least was on her side. No sooner had she thought that, the clouds above rumbled ominously sending a shiver down her spine.
She had left Southglass far behind her; for a few days she had stayed in the town centre but soon decided that the further away she was from the group that captured her the better. She swept her hair to one side, then folded her arms in an attempt to keep herself warm. A wind had picked up and buffeted her head on, forcing her to lean forwards to shelter her face. Stopping for a moment and looking out at the bland scenery surrounding her, she felt a growing sense of hopelessness. She was running from someone, somewhere and now she was stuck in the middle of nowhere, heading somewhere and not knowing who on earth she was or what she was doing. To describe how she felt as lost, alone and absolutely terrified would be an understatement.
She felt the urge to do something she hadn't done for years (...well, not that she knew that) but as she felt tears prick at her eyes, she blinked them back out of habit.
Perhaps others will travel this way she thought, biting her lip. As she began walking again, she tried to reassure herself that she would not die wandering the plains, but three large black birds screeching and wheeling overhead in the winds, certainly hoped that she was wrong.

Jocelyn was sitting on a rock as she sharpened the small dagger attatched to her pouch. Her bow had been stolen along with her sword, and only her arrows and dagger were left. She wasn't in a good mood. Frowning, she stood up from her resting place and shoved the dagger back into her pocket. The wind tugged at her clothes, as if they wanted her to follow it over the earth. Pulling the cotton shawl over her shoulders, she was wearing what she rarely did. A gown. Most of the time it was armour and trousers. Brushing her long hair away from her eyes, she smiled and breathed in the open air. This was where she belonged. The wilderness, not obeying orders from petty royals. To her, a title was nothing more than an excuse to push others around - and those silly kings and queens were quite good at it. Looking over the plains, she saw something quite unusual. A young lady travelling over the grass in knee high boots and a light white dress. The sight almost made her laugh, but then, the wind picked up and howled over the hills.
The dear must be cold... she thought, and that was a very rare thought for Jocelyn. She never thought of anyone else out here in the wilderness. It was everyone for themselves.
Travelling down towards her, she made sure she hid her weapons well, so the girl would not be frightened. She led her sleek bay mount, Jackal, down the hill. The horse was getting old, and soon, Jocelyn would set the stallion free so he may spend his last years as a beautiful sleek wild horse. But for now, he would remain domestic. Soon, she reached the girl, and led her horse in front of her so she could talk. Reaching up, she drew an extra shawl out of her bag, and handed it to the girl.
"My name is Jocelyn Bourne, here. You look cold."
The whole time, she did not smile one bit. Jocelyn couldn't smile to others. It seemed unnatural to her.
Queen edit: I just took the bold off the speech and put in quotation marks - it's in the rules, I just prefer it this way ^^[/color]

Amber accepted the cloak gratefully and wrapped it around her shoulders.
"Thank-you" she replied, deciding not to introduce herself unless asked. She didn't really feel like being questioned about who she was, and she didn't even know if the lady could be trusted. Still, she had been kind enough to help her unprovoked, so for the time being, Amber decided to trust her.
"Could you possibly point me in the direction of the nearest town or city?" she asked, "Which isn't Southglass." she added hurriedly. She had no wish to return there anytime soon.
