Jack walked into the Silver Arrow. It was perhaps his favorite pub in all of Daitheria: the ale was good, the music loud and the locals friendly. And although he was alone today, he felt far from lonely. The noise from the nymphs, other passers by and the band filled the pub with a vibrant mix of chatter, laughing and jovial music. He leaned against the bar and loudly ordered a drink from the pretty barmaid.
"That'll be three bronze pieces." she asked, holding out her hand. Jack fished around in his pocket for a second and drew out a silver coin.
"Keep the change." he replied, placing the coin in her hand with a wink. Although she was obviously used to attention from her customers, Jack could tell she had flushed slightly pink underneath her rouged cheeks. He slipped his precious bow from off of his shoulders and gingerly leaned it against the bar, then turned around with a grin and propped himself up with his elbows, content for the time being to people-watch.

Arlin was deep in thought as he entered the public house, he was trying to plan White Lightning's next move. The princess was lost. Due to several incompetent members of his gang, who had been punished justly, he had now lost the one hold he had over the queen.
Sighing softly, he pulled his hood from his face. He would have preferred to have kept it up, but knew that doing so would attract unwanted attention. One look at Arlin would have told an onlooker that he was a mere peasant boy, about 17 years old. He was indeed 17, but there was also much more to him than that. He was the leader of White Lightning.
As he stood at the bar, a young man beside him seemed to be flirting with a bar maid. Arlin never understood it himself, how someone could carry on, as though there were no troubles in the world, but he knew trying to preach ideas would give away his identity. From the corner of his eye he watched as the boy winked and told the girl to keep th change. Another thing which annoyed Arlin, was throwing money away.
"Your drink sir?" Came a voice. Arlin turned to see the barmaid smiling happily at him, a tankard in her hand. He nodded silently and swapped a couple of coins for the drink. Turning around, he moved to a corner of the pub, where he could succesfully listen and watch the merry makers. Especially the boy at the bar.

The pub was so crowded and Jacks sense were buzzing. His eyes flicked to the door as a hooded newcomer entered. As he lowered his hood and looked around, Jack soon lost interest and instead turned his attention to three rather beautiful water nymphs nearby.
The newcomer crossed infront of Jack as he went to take a seat in the corner of the pub, and sat back surveying the scene. The fact his eyes kept flicking back to him unnerved Jack slightly, but he shook off the feeling. Probably just jealous he thought to himself, suppressing a grin and draining the rest of his ale.
"Another when you're ready." he called over his shoulder to the barmaid. Moments later he held a full tankard, and as he lifted it up to take a sip he peered over the rim towards the man in the corner who was still looking his way. Jack couldn't help wondering why someone who obviously wanted to be alone would choose this pub to come for a drink. It was hardly a place of peaceful reminiscence or solitude, but maybe he was just looking to drown his sorrows.

Arlin sat, slowly sipping his drink, as he watched the man at the bar. Something about him seemed to catch his attention, although he could never have said what that was. After a short while, the stranger seemed to notice he had captured Arlins attention, and Arlin quickly looked away and tried to act as the other drinkers did. He couldnt have people noticing him, it could give away his identity.
The next time he caught the stranger looking at him, he tried to muster a smile. It wasn't in his nature to be as friendly as this, but he could tell this person was more aware of him than most, and he needed to act normally.

Jack returned the strangers smile warily and on the impulse decided to go over to him, maybe then he could find out a bit more about who he was. He scooped up his bow and walked over to the corner, ducking through a couple of arguing men, one of which seemed to be brandishing a very small....but very sharp- pike.
"Is this seat taken?" he asked as he approached the table, then sat down regardless of the mans answer. Leaning back he took a large swig of ale,
"Jack Sadler." he said offering Arlin his spare hand in a brief friendly gesture. Then he got to the point: "I couldn't help but notice you kept looking my direction...?"

Arlin almost wanted to get up and run away. Unwanted attention was not something ANY of the white lightning rebels wanted. Let alone Arlin, the leader. He looked up at the newcomer and managed a smile. "Arlin Ford" he said simply, but offered no hand.
Jack Sadler was no man to beat around the bush. His question was straight forward and blunt. "Was i?" he answered vaguely, and took another swig of ale. "I was merely looking about the pub. If my eyes lingered for a moment longer on you, it was through no intention of mine."
